So, given on opportunity to go anywhere in the country except Hawaii, I did what any good geologist should do... I went to Alaska from 24 July to 4 August. I took the trip alone, as this enabled me to stop at any point to take photos, hike to nowhere in particular, make faces at moose, or pick up Austrian hitchhikers. I'm not a particularly difficult person to get along with, but I'm sure my off-beat desires could be annoying on a trip such as this.
The vacation was a wonderful experience for me... I'm elated that I had the opportunity to tour the state, and to meet interesting people while I traveled. While on the trip, I didn't keep a journal, but am currently assembling a trip log to describe the vacation.
After reading this, be glad if you didn't receive a post card - I had to fit all this information into a 3x5-inch area. While on the trip, I shot 25 rolls of film; I haven't had them developed yet. I'm hoping to borrow a friend's scanner to make the pages a little more interesting...
