In my youth, the majority of my musical activities were in band as a clarinet, and later, tenor saxophone player. I was a mediocre at best, and played both instruments in high school. Although the Cumberland High School Band was a waste of time, I decided to play in the Brown Band upon arriving at college. Membership in the Band was one of my most enjoyable activities during my 4 years.

I don't know whether it's due to my years as a "musician" (used very loosely), but my listening interests are varied - I enjoy most musical forms, with the exception of country (western's ok though) and rap. I go through rather long phases, when I listen to only 1 or 2 CDs at a time. Right now, Charles Mingus' Cumbia & Jazz Fusion is sitting in the CD drive of my computer.

I'm somewhat of a They Might Be Giants (unofficial site) (official site) groupie (I've seen them live 6 times), and am one of many jumping onto the Dave Matthews Bandwagon. When it comes to classic rock, the Police are awesome; with classical, nobody beats Bach; and I have a varied jazz collection, including John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Thelonious Monk.
